Ofivio Business, explained: the work before the work

Every project business has a second business attached to it: finding the next project. In most firms that one lives in a notebook, a phone and one person's memory.

By Ofivio

Ofivio Business is the pipeline, the quotations, the campaigns and the bids — the work that happens before a project exists. It is a CRM, but its usefulness comes from where it sits rather than from what it does, so that is the honest place to start.

A CRM beside the work versus inside it

A standalone CRM knows what you quoted. It does not know what the project then cost, which means the most valuable question a project business can ask — are we pricing this kind of work correctly — is answered by exporting two systems into a spreadsheet, badly, once a year.

Here the quotation becomes the project, the project accumulates real cost, and the two stay attached. After a year that is a pricing model built from your own history rather than from instinct.

What is in the box

Sales, Marketing, Business Development, HR, Finance.

Bids are not deals

Sales software is largely written for a transaction: a deal with a value and a close date. A tender is not that. It has a submission deadline that does not move, a document set, a bond, a clarification round, and a result that arrives weeks later with no negotiation. Modelling a bid as a deal is why generic CRMs feel wrong to contractors and consultants — they are being asked to describe an event they were not designed for.

What it does not do

  • No marketing automation suite — campaigns are tracked, not orchestrated with drip logic
  • No dialler, no sequences, no sales engagement platform
  • No lead-buying or data enrichment
  • If selling is your whole business rather than the front of it, a dedicated CRM is deeper and you should buy one

Put your current pipeline in and see what last year's work actually cost against what you quoted.
