HR software for firms too big for a spreadsheet and too small for an enterprise suite

Between about five and five hundred people, HR is a real job that nobody has been given. Leave is approved on WhatsApp. Attendance is a register somebody photographs. An experience letter takes two days because the dates have to be reconstructed. None of this is hard — it is just unowned, and the cost shows up as disputes rather than as a line item.

The things that actually take the time

  • 01One roster that is true, and that the rest of the business can read
  • 02Leave with a balance, an approver and a record — not a chat message
  • 03Attendance that survives site work and multiple locations
  • 04Letters (offer, experience, warning) generated from the record, on letterhead
  • 05A warning and performance history that exists before it is needed
  • 06Onboarding and exit that do not depend on one person remembering the steps

The roster is infrastructure, so it is free

Every other product needs to know who works here: a site report needs a supervisor, a project needs staff, payroll needs a roster. So the roster, leave and attendance are included in every Ofivio product rather than sold as an HR upgrade. What is paid for is payroll and the documents.

HR in a project business is not HR in an office

People move between projects, work on sites without a desk, and are often paid partly against work rather than only against a month. That means attendance has to work on a phone, cost has to follow the person to the project, and the roster has to be readable by the operational products rather than sitting in an HR island.

Departments, not one big list

Once a firm passes about thirty people, a flat employee list stops working — leave has to route to the right approver and salaries must not be visible to everyone. Ofivio People splits the record so HR sees the person and finance sees the cost, and neither sees the other's half by accident.

Who this is not for

If you are on this list, Ofivio is the wrong purchase and we would rather you know now than in month three.

  • Companies needing statutory payroll filing for a jurisdiction we do not support
  • Recruitment agencies wanting an applicant tracking system as their main product
  • Firms with under five employees, where the overhead exceeds the benefit
  • Enterprises needing full HRIS with succession planning and compensation modelling

The products behind this

Questions people actually ask

Is the roster really free?
Yes — roster, leave and attendance are in every product because the rest of the system needs them. Payroll, letters and the document trail are the paid part.
Can employees see their own record?
Employees get their own view: their leave balance, their attendance and their letters. They cannot see anyone else's.
Does it work for site labour without company email addresses?
Yes. Attendance and the employee view are built for a phone and do not require a corporate mailbox.
