Ofivio People, explained: the roster is free, the paperwork is the product

Between five and five hundred people, HR is a real job nobody has been given. Leave is approved in a chat, attendance is a photographed register, and a letter takes two days.

By Ofivio

Ofivio People splits into two halves, and the split is deliberate. The roster, departments, attendance and leave are included FREE in every Ofivio product, because everything else in the system needs to know who works here — a site report needs a supervisor, a project needs staff, a payroll run needs a roster. What is paid for is payroll, the documents, and the record that has to survive a dispute.

Why the roster is infrastructure

The most common failure in small-firm HR is not choosing badly — it is buying a good HR platform that becomes a SECOND roster. Operations knows who is on site, HR knows who is employed, payroll knows who to pay, and the three disagree exactly at the edges where new joiners, leavers and transfers live. Whatever you buy, decide first which system owns the roster. Here the answer is forced: there is only one, and every product reads it.

What is in the box

People, Manager, HR, Finance.

Payroll that reaches the project

If payroll posts a single wage expense, project profitability is a guess for any firm whose main cost is people. Because the roster already carries project assignment, a run can split cost where it was actually incurred. That one link is what makes a project P&L mean anything in a services or construction business.

  • Advances tracked as a real balance with a recovery schedule, not a notebook
  • Overtime, site allowances and anything paid against work rather than time
  • Deductions with a reason the employee can be shown
  • A payslip the employee opens themselves, alongside their leave balance and letters

The documents are the point

Offer letters, experience letters, warnings and the performance record are generated from the employment record rather than reconstructed from memory. That matters on exactly two days: the day somebody asks for a letter and expects it in an hour, and the day a dispute turns on what was agreed and when.

What it does not do

  • No statutory filing or tax computation for jurisdictions we do not support — check yours before committing
  • No applicant tracking; this is for people you have hired, not people you are hiring
  • No engagement surveys, succession planning or compensation modelling
  • Below about five employees, the overhead exceeds the benefit and a spreadsheet is the honest answer

Put the roster in, approve one leave request, and see where the payroll cost lands.
